10. Legal Standards and Compliance for Reusable Gift Bags in the USA and EU
Compliance is not optional. Both the USA and EU have tightened regulations around environmental claims and packaging design. Understanding these frameworks protects your business from fines and reputational damage.
10.1 USA: FTC Green Guides and “Reusable” Claim Substantiation
The FTC’s revised Green Guides (effective 2025) require that any product marketed as “reusable” must be supported by competent and reliable scientific evidence that consumers can and will reuse it.
